LIVERPOOL CLUB SCENE

Cream

This is the ultimate Liverpool superclub, from humble beginnings is now world famous. Cream’s reputation lives on and celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, proving that the original is still the best. Expect big names and allnighters.

Circus

The Circus concept is simple but very effective, playing the latest house music in this Big Top themed funhouse, down at the docks.

Nation

Best known as the original home to Cream, Nation has now gone on to become a legend in its own right. Nation’s advantage is its sheer scale, the main room, annex and courtyard ensure big crowds and the quality names to match.

Chibuku

Chibuku has become something of an institution, it’s parties are synonymous with big names and great nights out. From humble beginnings the Chibuku party started with three students hiring a room above the Lemon Lounge, and has rapidly grown into the best night out in the clubbing world.

Bumper

Consistently good any night of the week, Bumper is proving to be a hit with all Liverpool walks of life.  The free entry door policy helps, and Bumper is a great pre-somewhere else venue. Staying there all night is hardly a problem with reasonable bar prices, guest DJ’s and bands and a rather roomy dance floor.
14-18 Hardman Street, Liverpool, 0151 707 9902

The Magnet

Reasonable bar prices, retro layout and location make The Magnet a haven away from the scally hoards found in town. The booths may look a little shabby these days but quality nights such as Gold In the Shade still prevail. And booking quality acts such as Roy Ayers proves Magnet has a little more soul than the rest.
43 Hardman Street, Liverpool, 0151 709 6969

Korova

A venue which is already well established for its live music and booking bands on the brink of the big time. Korova has also played host to various up and coming DJ’s, featuring the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Hot Chip, 2 Many DJ’s and Kissy Sell Out. The surroundings at Korova are understated cool and combine quality eating and drinking with a constant supply of new music.
Wood Street, Liverpool, 0151 709 7097

Hannah's Bar

Currently undergoing a substantial make over, Hannah’s Bar looks set to cash in on its reputation as the place to go for cheap drinking in a quality beer garden. Although you normally can’t move for LIPA students performing at acoustic nights, it’s worth remembering that Hannah’s has a lot more to offer. The upstairs bar plays host to some great nights such as the ever popular Superfly, Subsound and Kerfuffle providing House and Techno from some of the cities biggest DJ’s in this intimate setting.

Vinyl

Based in the basement of Pistachio restaurant on Aigburth’s Lark Lane, Vinyl plays host to a number of different nights encompassing live bands, reggae and soul amongst others. Vinyl presents regular nights from Soulful Vibes, a music collective based in Liverpool which has regular and guest DJ’s.

Bar Fresa

This often overlooked venue has played host to a number of parties and gigs over the years, with regular nights hosted by the likes of No Excuses, Foul Play and Tribe. Bar Fresa has seen DJ’s from Fabric, Bugged Out and Voodoo grace the decks which is quite an accomplishment for such a small venue. Don’t let size put you off however, as the dancefloor is known to get busy and the nights have been good enough to rival the bigger players.
Colquitt Street, Liverpool

Zanzibar

Zanzibar may not have cosmetically changed any, but the quality of the nights stills remains. Often better known as a venue for live bands, thanks to its crackin PA system, Zanzibar hosts a number of impressive nights. From the recent-ish arrival of One Army and Eat Your Greens to the ever prolific and consistently great Superfly. Always worth checking out.
Seel Street, Liverpool, 0151 707 0633

The Vault

Contender for the most unusual venue in the city, The Vault literally feels like you’re dancing in the basement of a restaurant - which in fact you are. The quirky nature of The Vault and its relatively lesser known status make it a cult favourite for discerning clubbers in the city. The Vault houses some great parties from Sub Sound, FRAKTAL and Leap, and continues to grow from strength to strength.

The Lemon Lounge

Original birth place of the legendary Chibuku, The Lemon Lounge is no stranger to hosting exceptional nights with the finest DJ talent which the city has to offer. Consistently hosting fabtastic nights at an alarming rate, The Lemon Lounge shows no signs of slowing down or losing its edge. It is obviously the venue of choice to many promoters and organisers in the city. The roll call of humours is so long and varied to go into full detail here but with the likes of Heavy Rot8tion, Funkadelic and Twisted, you know you’re onto a winner.
Berry Street, Liverpool,

Carling Academy

When visiting Liverpool on his most recent tour DJ Mr Scruff requested to play at the city's Carling Academy. And he’s in good company, Mark Ronson, Derek Carter and Justice have equally been as keen to play here. The Liverpool venue of this chain has welcomed numerous club nights over the years from the diverse Wrongdesvous to Aztec, Evol and Voodoo.
Hotham Street, Liverpool, 0844 477 2000

Heebie Jeebies

Revamped and refurbished, Heebies is setting the bar as one of the most popular venues in town. Consistently busy on any given night of the week, there are DJ’s and live music in both the upstairs and downstairs parts of the club. You’ll find Soul and Funk sounds one night and Evol and Cookie Dough the next. Combined with the ever busy outside courtyard, Heebies is rightly reserving its title as the pick of Liverpool venues.
Seel Street, Liverpool, 0151 708 7001

Django’s Riff

Hidden treasure Django’s Riff previously known as Beluga Bar as by far one of the better looking venues which the city centre has to offer. Their now defunct Sunday Sludgeathons are that of local folklore for the clubbing fraternity, with duvets and table service on hand to assist to ultimate of come downs, or just carrying on that weekend feeling for as long as possible.
These days Django’s hosts quality nights seven days a week and proudly boasts the title of playing home to Liverpool’s only regular reggae night, Dubzone.
