LIVERPOOL CLUBS (FREE ENTRY)

The Cavern Club

The Beatles made their first lunchtime appearance at the famous Cavern Club on Tuesday 21 February 1961. From 1961 to 1963 The Beatles made 292 appearances at the club, with their last occurring on 3 August 1963, a month after the band recorded "She Loves You".

The Cavern Club is still open as one of the UK's most famous venues. It has around 40 live bands performing every week; both tribute and original bands, although the majority perform their own material. The front room of the Cavern is the main tourist attraction, where people come to have their photograph taken on the famous Cavern stage, with the names of the bands who played there written on the back wall.

Jacaranda Club

This club was once owned by the Beatles’ first manager, Allan Williams in September 1958, the place where the Fab Four used to play, rehearse and hang out.  The Beatles drank coffee and ate bacon butties in their early days, mixing with art students, poets, and a whole host of Mersybeat musos.

At night they played amateurish rock 'n roll in the basement for £1.00 each. Due to their shortage of money, Allan persuaded them to paint murals on the walls and clean the ladies toilets. He thought little of their musical ability but did find them work, including their now famous spell in Hamburg.

Korova

Korova is a fantastic bar, music venue and restaurant on Fleet Street, Liverpool. Its name references the Korova Milk Bar from Stanley Kubrick's film, A Clockwork Orange.

Korova was created from the joint visions of Rob Gutmann (Korova Corporation), Richard Eastwood (R2 Architecture), Ladytron and Liverpool graphics studio, BURN. The venue was inspired by Ladytron's club night EVOL (2003). The album cover for the Arctic Monkey's first album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', was shot at Korova.

HEEBIE JEEBIES

This place is an absolute gem! The bar staff are great, providing a quick and friendly service. There are excellent welcomes and farewells from the door supervisors. A definite great place to start, finish or spend the whole evening. Heebies is an absolute institution in Liverpool. Frequented by students, musicians, clubbers, hen/stag parties, it is a firm favourtie with most. The atmosphere is always great. They have LIVE music, an outside decked area that is always popular in the summer (especially for the smokers) and huge upstairs to get away from the crowds downstairs. The drinks are cheap with £1 beers even at the weekends! The old brickwork archways and alcoves add character to the place, as does some of the plush furniture dotted around. FREE ENTRY.
